About the Programme

An outstanding culture based on trust, respect, fairness, camaraderie and pride are just some of the elements to creating great workplaces. A great place to work is more likely to attract talented staff, have reduced productivity costs and, ultimately, achieve greater profits.

Isn't this what every organisation in Scotland  wants?

Scotland's Best Workplaces initiative forms part of the Global Best Workplaces Programme which researches, identifies and recognises leading workplaces in more than 48 countries worldwide, including 18 national programmes in Europe.  The study is conducted using the same methodological approach and robust proprietary tools applied to other Great Place to Work® programmes across the globe. Based on our employee survey, you will receive reports packed with practical knowledge on how to improve your workplace and the top organisations will be profiled in a special report in the national press.

Scotland's Best Workplaces Programme is delivered in strategic partnership with Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, and published by The Herald, which will give you the opportunity to gain exposure to a readership of more than 215,000.

'Firms which have managed to maintain trust, loyalty and engagement with workers and partners demonstrate a vitally important edge in today's very competitive marketplace.'
John McClelland CBE, Chair, Skills Development Scotland

The success of the Best Workplaces rankings globally reflects the increasing realisation that an organisation is only as good as its employees. This is something that HR practitioners and business leaders have long known – but now there is the opportunity for worldwide recognition.

If you are successful in Scotland’s Best Workplaces Programme, you can also be considered for the next ranking levels in the same year: the UK’s Best Workplaces Programme and Europe’s Best Workplaces Programme.

This is your chance to be recognised as an employer of choice in Scotland, the UK and in Europe.
